July 24th, 2010
Breakfast: We thought we would try a new breakfast location. We went to Merkel and found Mi Concina (My Kitchen). Great food and worth another visit. There were 4 of us and 4 Corvettes.
Dinner: We went to the Peacock in Anson. Always a great place to go and we get a fun road trip to boot. There were 21 of us and 12 Corvettes.
July 17th, 2010
Breakfast: We met at the rest stop on I20 East of Abilene at mile marker 296. We went the back way to Baird on Hwy 18. Great day for a drive. We had breakfast at the Whistle Stop in downtown Baird. Great restaurant and crowded with bikers and then Corvetters. There were 6 of us and 6 Corvettes.
Dinner: We went to China Star. Afterwards, we went to the Brew Net. There were 15 of us and 7 Corvettes. Also, Teri picked up a 2001 triple black convertible. Sweet!!!

Breakfast: We went to Mac's Cafe (inside Lawrence Bros) in Clyde. It was a war wagon morning. There were 4 of us and 1 Corvette.
Dinner: We went to The Home Place in Tuscola. Afterwards, we went to Steve and Sue's home for coffee and lots of conversation. There were 17 of us and 6 Corvettes.
July 3rd, 2010Breakfast: We went to Cracker Barrel for the usual great breakfast. There were 6 of us and 2 Corvettes.
Dinner: We went to Little Italy. Afterwards, we went to Hastings and the Hardback Coffee Cafe. It was a war wagon night. There were 11 of us and 7 Corvettes.

Dinner: We went to Lytle Land and Cattle for some great steaks. Many of the members were out of town. There were 6 of us, 3 Corvettes and a Viper.

Lone Star Corvette Club Stadium Tours: Our group of 9 Corvettes and 16 members joined the Lone Star group of about 100 to tour both the Rangers Ballpark and the new Cowboy Stadium. It was a fun event. It was good to see some of our Lone Star friends.
Dinner: We went to the Pizza House in Clyde. There were 15 of us and 9 Corvettes.
June 12th, 2010
Dinner: What an event!!! We went to Ft. Worth and the Botanical Gardens. Of course we had to eat and we went to Angelos in Ft. Worth. Great food and wine Margaritas. At the Gardens, the Ft. Worth Symphony were accompanied by vocals of songs by the Eagles. We brought our lawn chairs and sat out on the grassy area shaded by tall trees and cooled by a nice breeze. On the final song, they shot off fireworks. It was fun....just hope we get to do it again.
There were 22 of us and 9 Corvettes.

Artwalk / Carwalk
Several of us attended the Artwalk/Carwalk in downtown Abilene. We had some new members bring their cars out. All in all, it was a fun event.
There were 20 of us, 12 Corvettes, a Bentley and a Harley.

Breakfast: We met at 7am at the Flying J. We headed to Sweetwater and the WASP homecoming parade and activities. Our own Crystal was helping coordinate the activities. Steve K and his Bentley won first place in the peoples choice car show. There were 16 of us and 9 Corvettes plus a Bentley.
Dinner: We went to Merkel and Skeets restaurant. We held the drawing for the Abilene Police baseball card that we are sponsoring for Chris. $355 dollars was raised. The idea was to have one of the club's Corvettes be pictured on the card. Ol' "BLUE EYES" won the drawing. Congratulations Crystal. Afterwards, we went to The Brew Net. There were 26 of us and 14 Corvettes. Also, Richard picked up his 07 Z06 at Corvettes of Dallas. A pretty yellow one !!!

May 14th-16th, 2010 Lone Star Corvette Club Classic XXI at Texas Motor Speedway
We had a good size group go this year...in fact, we got a 2nd place award for club participation. As always, it was good to go and see old friends and meet new ones. There were lots of great cars at the car show on Saturday under the stands at TMS. I was told 500 cars were registered for the Classic and that 250 cars were registered for the car show Saturday. Sunday was track day and the weather cooperated so everyone got to drive the oval and infield road course.

Breakfast: Flying J was selected since the club would be leaving early afternoon and traveling to Stephenville for supper. There were 6 of us and 3 Corvettes.
Dinner: We met at the bank at 3:30pm for a 4pm departure. We traveled to Stephenville and the Oakdale Steak House. It was great as a number of our out-of-town members were able to make the trip...the food was not bad either. There were 17 of us, 11 Corvettes plus a Prowler.

Dinner: We went to Amanda's. There were 8 of us and 5 Corvettes.
Brazos River Motorsport Ranch Day: We met at the rest area East of Abilene at 8am. We went to Cisco to enjoy breakfast at Linda's Corner Cafe. Always a great stop. We then traveled to Cresson (just East of Granbury) and the Motorsport Ranch. After a couple of class room sessions followed by a couple of lead and follows mixed in on the 1.7 mile track, we were ready to run the track on our own. We broke into two different groups: fast and faster. After a couple of open sessions, it was time to eat and make the trip back home. There were 7 of us and 6 Corvettes. Dinner: We went to Buffalo Gap and the Deutschlander Freshwater Catfish Co. Restaurant. Afterwards, we went to The Brew Net for coffee. There were 27 of us and 17 Corvettes.

April 21 (Wednesday)
Dudley and I drive the road to Sanderson from Ft. Stockton. At the Sanderson Court House, we registered for the BBORR. We received our goody bags, pins, t-shirts, car number and windshield decal. We attended the 2 hour rookie driving school and then had lunch. After lunch, we took my car to be inspected or go thru tech as they call it. We passed with no problem. We then went to the highway between Sanderson and Marathon (Hwy 9) for our qualifying drive. It is an 8 mile stretch of highway that has been closed down for that purpose. An instructor rides with you as you drive the highway at speeds up to your tech speed. Ours happens to be 124mph.
You drive 8 miles out, wait for the 10-12 cars behind you to make their run and then you drive back. Your instructor give us the all ok and we head back to Ft. Stockton for the night. As we drive the 58 miles back we are practicing our timing at 75mph.

Several of our members went to Boerne for the TCA Open Car Show. We left Friday morning with a stop in Ballinger for breakfast at Alejandra's. Great breakfast. This would be a great place for one of our Saturday night dinners. We continued on to Boerne and arrived around noon at the hotel. We cleaned and got our cars ready for the next days car show. On Saturday, the main street in Boerne had been blocked off and Corvettes were found everywhere. Congratulations to several of our members who received awards. Randy and Teri, Jerry and Teggy, and "Rolando and Pamasetta". There were 17 of us, 10 Corvettes and a Camaro.

Dinner: Our first dinner road trip of the year......we went to Robert Lee where we had dinner and homemade pie at Twisters. Ask anyone that went how Twisters got its' name. There were 15 of us, 10 Corvettes and a Viper.

Corvettes of Enid Expo 18: Great show. There were about 125 cars inside the Expo Center in Enid. They had two C6 convertibles converted to ZR1's. 770 HP. There were also two C6 convertibles converted to Z06's.

We met at the Flying J, had breakfast, traveled to Pecos and had lunch at the Flying J.
I know...sounds like we were on a "Flying J" tour. After lunch, we continued on to
Balmorhea State Park and then on to Ft. Davis and the
Indian Lodge. After our check-in, some went on the
scenic loop, some to
tour Ft. Davis and some to relax at the lodge. For our evening meal, we went to the
Limpia Hotel. As always, we let everyone know we were there !!

Weather: 50 degrees and sunny
We started the day at the Black Bear Restaurant at the Indian Lodge. After breakfast, we headed to Marfa to check out the
Hotel Paisano and where some of us met
David Kimble, the illustrator for GM. He lives in the Palace Theater. After filling up with gas, we headed to
Presidio. After a brief stop at a local grocery store, we headed down the river road and the
Terlingua Ghost Town. Here we had lunch at the
Starlight Theater. Great food with live entertainment. From Terlingua, we headed to Alpine and the
Marverick Inn. We found our rooms and unpacked our cars. After a short break we headed to the
Longhorn Steakhouse. After a great meal, we headed back to Ft. Davis and the
McDonald Observatory. Our time was limited at the observatory because of a cold front that produced cloud cover and obstructed our view of the stars and planets. Then we headed back to Alpine for the night.

Weather: 30 degrees and sleet.
We started the day at Magoo's Place restaurant. Great mexican items for breakfast as well as your regular breakfast. After breakfast, we headed to the Big Bend National Park via Study Butte. We spent most of the day in the park with stops at the Santa Elena Canyon and the Chisos Mountain Lodge where we had a great lunch as well as a great view of the mountains. After lunch, we headed back to Alpine thru Marathon. We took a break in Marathon and checked out the Gage Hotel. We then headed back to the Maverick Inn in Alpine for some relaxation and a pizza dinner.

Weather: 40 degrees and sunny.
This was our day to travel home. We started with a breakfast at McDonald's in Alpine. We headed north to Ft. Stockton and Big Lake. Then it was on to Sterling City and Robert Lee. In Robert Lee we refueled our cars and ourselves. We found Twisters Restaurant where they serve great food and make great pies. Afterwards, we headed home to Abilene where there was still enough light to clean our cars from our long journey.
What a great adventure and what a great group of people to enjoy it with !!!

Breakfast: We went to Roscoe and Retta Mae's Restaurant. Lots of food for not much money. I guess you could say this was our first roadtrip of the year. There were 9 of us and 7 Corvettes.

Several of our members went to PrimeTime on Loop 322 for the Christain Homes Wheels for Life car show. A number of our members got awards with Fred's Harley getting Best of Show.
Dinner: We went to ZooKini's for great food. Afterwards, we went to The Brew Net. There were 28 of us and 14 Corvettes.

A large group of our members took their cars to Dyess for a picture with the B1 bomber. A big THANK-YOU!!! to Ryan and Crystal for setting this up. We had 35 cars altogether.
Dinner: This was homecoming weekend for all the colleges. Plus, ZOPS had all kinds of activities around town. With that in mind, we went to Tuscola to have dinner at BIG G's Steakhouse. Great steaks and a great drive to stretch the legs of our Corvettes. There were 30 of us and 18 Corvettes.

Several of our members went to the 4th Annual Brazos River Corvette Club's car show on the town square. There were over 100 cars. Some came as far away as Enid, OK. One of our cars received an award. There were 12 of us and 9 Corvettes.
Dinner: With so many out of town there was no club dinner tonight.

Dinner: This was KEAN cruise night plus we had many of our members out-of-town. Several of our members met at Chelsea's at the Mall of Abilene. From there, we went to the car show just North of the Mall.

Eureka Springs 19th Annual Corvette Show
Several of our members left Thursday, Oct 1, for Eureka Springs, Arkansas.
It rained on us going and coming but the weather there was wonderful.
We had a great time and one of our members got an award.

Serveral of our group went to Wichita Falls, TX for the Wichita County Corvette Association's Corvette Roundup. There were over 100 Corvettes with 55 coming from the Lone Star Corvette Club in the Dallas area. Several of our members received awards for their cars. There were 10 of us and 7 Corvettes.
Dinner: We went the Szechuan Chinese Restaurant on South 1st. Afterwards, we went to Pat and Joann's house for coffee and conversation. There were 11 of us and 8 Corvettes.

With most of the members out of town for the holiday weekend or at the NCM, we had a very small group. We decided to go to Brick Oven Pizza. There were 4 of us and 2 Corvettes.
Aug 31st, 2009 (Monday)
Several of our members met at Hanner Chevrolet this morning at 7am for a fabulous breakfast and an 8am sendoff by the staff at Hanner Chevrolet for our departure on the 2009 NCM Corvette Caravan. We will head to Texas Motor Speedway where we will meet up with the Central Texas group. From there we will head to OKC to meet up with the Southern California, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, North Texas and Oklahoma groups. From our club, there were 16 of us and 12 Corvettes. In OKC, there will be about 800 Corvettes.
(Tuesday) Today we travel from OKC to Tunica, Mississippi. We will be staying the night at Harrah's Casino. We will dine at Paula Dean's restaraunt and gamble.
(Wednesday) Today we will travel to Goodlettsville, TN to check in at the hotel and then travel on to Bowling Green, KY where we will be volunteering at the National Corvette Museum.
(Thursday) Today we go to the Corvette Assembly Plant for a tour. Afterwards, we will head to the Makers Mark distillery.
(Friday) Today we travel to several wineries and a cheese farm. We will also travel the back roads of Tennesse and Kentucky.
(Saturday) Today we spend the day at the Corvette Museum where we will go thru the museum portion and watch the unveiling of the Corvette prototype that was used in the movie Transformers II.
(Sunday) Today we will travel to Hot Springs, AR and spend the night.
(Monday) Today we will travel the rest of the way home....WOW, what a week !!

Breakfast: We went to the Cracker Barrel on I-20 and Hwy 350. There were 10 of us and 10 Corvettes.
Several of the members took their cars to the Power Shack on Buffalo Gap Road. The Power Shack was celebrating their 23rd anniversary with a car and cycle show.
Dinner: We went to the Home Place in Tuscola for a great meal and then went to Pam's place in Buffalo Gap for coffee and conversation. There were 30 of us and 19 Corvettes.

Breakfast: We went to Lawrence Brothers in Clyde. As usual, Mark took care of us and served us a great breakfast. Lots of coffee and conversation. There were 9 of us and 7 Corvettes. Bobby and Cindy Lewis joined us for the first time with their Black C6 Coupe (another one from Corvettes of Dallas).

"Beat the heat in Ruidoso" trip:
Several of our members went to Ruidoso, NM on Thursday and stayed until Sunday, Aug 2nd. When we left Sunday, it was 48 degrees. It was a great trip. We went to the horse races, casinos and great restaurants. We did some back road traveling thru the mountains with some spirited driving. We stayed in a condo....can you say "Animal House" !!!! All in all it was a great event planned by Roland and Pam. There were 10 of us and 6 Corvettes.
Dinner: We went to the Szechuan Chinese Restaurant on South 1st. Great food. There were 8 of us since most were out of town.

Mystery Tour: Several of our members went on a Mystery Tour this weekend led by Randy and Teri. We ended up in San Antonio on the River Walk. It was fun and I hope we do another mystery tour.
Dinner: We went to the Beehive in downtown Abilene. There was a mix-up on our reservation among other things. We probably will not go back. Afterwards, we went to Hastings for coffee and conversation. There were 11 of us.
Other news: Ralph and Cindy traded in their 2002 Red Coupe for a 2006 Le Mans Blue Coupe.

Several of our members went to the Artwalk/Carwalk in downtown Abilene.

Breakfast: We went to the L&L Family Restaurant in Breckenridge. Beautiful day for a drive plus good food and converstation. We had a good group of 9 and 9 Corvettes.
Dinner: Well, if you missed the dinner at Steve and Sue's, you missed a great time and a great meal. Steve and Sue put on a great spread and since we were outside, the weather even cooperated. Steve showed off his shop and 35 Bentley and Sue showed off her beautiful home. There were 21 of us and 16 Corvettes.

Hanner Chevrolet Camaro Debut: What a fun event!! We had a good crowd. Hanner fed us breakfast....and even lunch. We even got to test drive several of their new cars. There were 27 of us and 18 Corvettes plus a Camaro.
Dinner: Because of rain, this was a war-wagon night. We went to the Pizza House in Clyde for some great pizza. We then went to The Brew Net on Hwy 351 for coffee and conversation.
There were 24 of us and 6 Corvettes.
Other news: Greg purchased a new black 2009 ZR1...wow!!!

Several of our members went to Ft. Worth for the 20th Classic hosted by the Lone Star Corvette Club. As usual, it was a great event with over 500 Corvettes registered. Even though it rained all day Saturday, the cars were under the stands at TMS and we were able to enjoy looking at 300-400 Corvettes. Sunday was track day and the weather turned cool and clear for some runs on the track that reached 130-140mph. Of our group, Brenda, Ryan, Wiggy and Randy got awards for their cars.
Dinner: No meeting, bad weather.
Other news: Lyn traded in her C5 convertible for a 2005 C6 roadster. Black on Red, 6-speed manual. Beautiful car !!

Several of our members went to Snyder, Tx for the Snyder Wheels Car Show and Cruise.
It was a great show even though the weather was not the best. We got rained on going but
the rain quit when we got there. There was a great turn-out and loads of great looking vehicles.
Of our group, Pam(3), Brenda, Arlene and Wiggy got awards.
Dinner: We went to Square's. Afterwards, we went to Hastings for coffee and conversation.

Several of our members went to Boerne, Tx (San Antonio, Tx) and the Texas Corvette Association's 17th Annual Open Car show. It is a great show and many of those that attended said they would go again. There were over 260 cars and that was pretty good considering they did not know if they were going to have the show because of the rain. Of the 7 Corvettes we entered in the show, Randy and Brenda received awards. There were 15 of us and 11 Corvettes.
One of our members has a new to them C6 convertible. Roland and Pam traded in the 50th Anniversary convertible for an 07 Red convertible. Pretty car!! They also sold their C1.
Dinner: We went to Los Primos on Treadaway. Afterwards, we went to Hastings for coffee and conversation.
Other news: Pam and Roland traded their 03 50th Anniversary roadster for an 06 Red roadster.
They also sold their C2 and got a 67 Camaro.

Several of our members went to the Kiowa Casino, just North of Wichita Falls, for some gambling and to stretch the legs of our Corvettes. We stopped in Albany at the Eagles Nest Cafe for breakfast and then continued on. We had a great time. There were 10 of us and 6 Corvettes.
Dinner: We went to Amanda's Mexican Restaraunt. Afterwards, the group went to Hastings for coffee and conversation. With several out of town for Easter, we still ended up with a nice size group. There were 16 of us and just a handful of Corvettes since storms were in the area.

Several of our members went to the 1st Annual Revorama at the Trinity Baptist benefiting the West Central Texas Food Bank. Of those that attended, Fred, Arlene, Teri and Dale received awards. There were over 100 cars and bikes.

At the bank, a Factory Five GTM Kit Car/Corvette showed up. Pretty neat car. It is mostly made up of Corvette parts (ie LS1 engine and computer, suspension, steering column, etc). Here is a

A couple of our members went to the Dallas Auto Show. GM brought a lot of vehicles. There were four Corvettes. Two Z06's, one ZR1 and one convertible. There were four Camaros. One of the Camaros was a concept car and had the LS7. If you were looking to buy, this would be a good place to go and see most of the cars that are available in one location.

About 18 of our members went to hear the Eagles in concert in Dallas. The Eagles were great as usual. It was a packed house at the American Airlines Center. I think everyone had a good time.
Some went to Corvettes of Dallas to check their inventory out. Arlene had fun...she came back with a new exhaust !!

After pulling a selection from a hat....we went to Red Robin. Afterwards, we went to Hastings for coffee and conversation. We also got to see the Alabama-Miss football game. Most of the group was at the Eagle's concert. There were 11 of us and 5 Corvettes.

Several of our members attended the "Wheels for Life" benefiting Christain Homes of Abilene. A-Town/Hi-Tech was the main sponsor. 18 Corvettes were on display along with many other cars from around the area. A beautiful day and a wonderful cause.

This was a busy weekend for our club!!!
Several of our members left Thursday for Eureka Springs, Arkansas. We ended up with 7 cars and had a great time. The scenery is beautiful and the roads are fun to drive...especially in a Corvette.
We even found a great Italian food restaurant, Emilio's. We ate there twice, it was so good.
There were 615 registered cars with several hundred more that were not registered. If you have not made this trip, you need to plan on going next year. It is always the first weekend in October. The dates are Oct. 1-4, 2009. We have already reserved rooms for next year...so if your are interested, let Arlene know. Pictures are available on the

Since this was KEAN cruise night, many of our members drove in the cruise. Several met at Chili's on HWY 351 and then joined up with the group at the Sears parking lot after the cruise.
Several of our members went to Wichita Falls for the Wichita Country Corvette Club car show. It was at the Holiday Inn by the Falls. There were about 85-90 cars. A good majority of the cars were from the LoneStar Corvette Club in Dallas. We had 3 cars at the show and all three placed...2 first place and 1 second place. We went to Brick Oven Pizza. There was one surprise. Greg and Pam have a new addition.
A new 08 yellow convertible. Black interior and black top.
About 11 of the club members went to the 35th Annual "Vettes on the Rockies" in Breckenridge, Colorado. It was a great event and even had the 2009 Corvette ZR1 on display.
Temperatures were in the low 80's during the day and 40's at night.
Wish we could have packaged some of that and brought it back.
With over 500 Corvettes registered, there were plenty of Corvettes to look at.

We went to the Bonzai Japanese Steakhouse. Great food and fun preparation.
We then went to Tuscany's for coffee. We had about 20 people and 12 Corvettes.
Several of the club members went to the Kiowa Casino, just North of Wichita Falls.
We left at 7:00am from the WalMart parking lot on Hwy 350 (Albany Hwy). We stopped for breakfast at the Presley Cafe in Albany and then continued on to the casino.

We went to Harlows and then to Tuscany's for coffee and conversation.
Several of the club members went to the Motorsports Ranch in Granbury. It was just an introduction to the course and to road racing in general. I think the worst that happened to our cars was they now have a little less tire tread and the brake pads are worn down a little. The nice thing was we learned more about our driving capabilities and how our car performs. It is highly recommended to attend the next one in April of 2009. (

They had the largest number of Corvettes at this year's event than they have ever had.
Of the 13 Corvettes that went, four received car show honors.
Wiggy got first in the non-member show and shine.
Crystal was the 21st Century Motorsports selected car.
Dale got first in the member show and shine, Hardtop / Z06.
Brenda got an award in the member judged class.

Several of the club members went to Colorado City for the CC Riders Car Show Saturday.
It was a fun show with many great cars.
Of the six cars that went, four placed in the competition.
Wiggy and Fred placed in the C1, C2 and C3 category.
Dale and Dudley placed in the C4, C5 and C6 category.
