Dinner: We went to Mary's in Strawn for the best chicken fried steak in Texas.  There were 8 of us and 6 Corvettes.  Congratulations to Roland and Pam on their recent 2011 Grand Sport purchase.  Pretty car !!!

Dinner: We went to THE HOMEPLACE in Tuscola.  There were 18 of us, 13 Corvettes and a Jag.

Dinner: We went to Buffalo Gap and Deutschlander Freshwater Catfish Co.  It was good to see Will, home on Christmas break.  We met Regan, a new attendee with a '05 Coupe.  There were 14 of us and 10 Corvettes.

Dinner: We went to the Rockin' R in Santa Anna.  We finally got to meet the Manning's from Brownwood.  They have a nice C6 Z06.  Can't beat LeMans Blue and stripes.  There were 20 of us, 11 Corvettes and a SSR.

Several attended the Toys-for-Tots car show at the United grocery store on South 14th and Willis.  A number of our group received trophies for their efforts.

3 Sisters Tour:  Several of us went to drive the 3 Sisters (AKA Twisted Sisters) (Hwys 335, 336 and 337 between Kerrville and Junction.  Lots of fun and lots of driving.  There were 3 of us and 3 Corvettes for a total of 8 and 7 Corvettes.
 
Dinner: We went to Lucy's here in Abilene.  There were 23 of us and 12 Corvettes.

Most of the club were our of town attending various events.  Several were in Eureka Springs plus several more in College Station and Granbury.  Congratulations to Barry for winning an award at the Brazos River Corvette Car show in Granbury.  Also, congratulations to Roger on his move up in run group at the Drivers Edge event at TWS in College Station.

College Station: We departed at 10am for Texas World Speedway.  We arrived around 4pm and registered with the Drivers Edge. This was going to be 2 great days of driving the track.  There were 2 of us and 2 Corvettes.

What a summer.  80 days of at least 100 degrees.  Make that 81, we hit 100 today and it was another record breaker.  109 was the hottest, 52 consecutive days without rain and 18 straight days of 100+ degrees.  Can Fall come too soon ?!?!?

Breakfast:  We went to Buffalo Gap and tried out the newly reopened C-Store.  It was great trying a new place.  There were 8 of us, 7 Corvettes and a Bentley.
 
Dinner: We went to Lytle Land and Cattle.  Afterwards, we went to the Sonic on Judge Ely.  There were 18 of us and 7 Corvettes.

"Road Trip!!":  Our good friends in the Concho Valley Corvette Club invited our club to visit the Granite Ranch near Junction.  We had a group of 12 and 16 Corvettes meet at 7am and travel to Ballinger for breakfast at Alejandra's.  We met the CVCC club in Eden and then traveled on to Roosevelt and the Granite Ranch.  What a place !!!  What a unique car collection and what a special guy that owns the ranch.  He even invites the Wounded Warriers to the ranch once a month and lets them take over the place.  It was well worth the trip and some of our members are interested in going again for a weekend stay.
 
Dinner:  We went to Abuelos for great food.  Afterwards, we went to the Sonic on Barrow for coffee and conversation. There were 15 of us and 10 Corvettes.

Sept. 3, 2011 (Labor Day Weekend)
78 Days of 100+ degrees this year thru the end of August.  The hottest August on record, in fact, the hottest summer on record.  Record highs on August 5, 25, 27, 28 and 29 with temps of 106, 105, 104, 107 and 104 respectively. We are ready for cooler weather.
 
Breakfast: Since this is a holiday weekend, most are out of town.  We went to Cracker Barrel. There were 3 of us and 3 Corvettes.
 
Dinner: "Meet and Eat" night.  We went to Al's Mesquite Grill.  Afterwards, we went to the Sonic on 14th and Barrow.  There were 9 of us and 6 Corvettes.

Dinner: Another 100+ degree day.  74 days so far this year with 100+ degrees.  We went the back way to Skeet's in Merkel via FM707, Hwy 277 and FM1235.  There were 15 of us, 11 Corvettes and a SSR.

Dinner: Another 100+ degree day.  67 days with 100+ temps this year.  We went to the Trent "Country" Club the back way thru Buffalo Gap and the wind farms.  After a great meal, we went to the DQ in Merkel for coffee and conversation.  There were 11 of us, 8 Corvettes and a GTO.

Dinner: Finally, RAIN !!!!!  The airport showed 3 inches.  We went to Zookini's.  Afterwards, we went to Hastings for coffee.  There were 16 of us, 8 Corvettes and various other vehicles (Suburban, Mercedes, HHR...)

Breakfast: We went to Alejandra's in Tuscola.  Afterwards, we went to Hanner Chevrolet in Baird the back way to attend their Grand Opening and to checkout their remodeling.  Nice improvements. There were 6 of us and 6 Corvettes.
 
Dinner: We went to Mary's in Strawn.  Another 108 degree day.  The 57th day for 100+ degrees this summer.  But, we weathered the heat and made the trip to Strawn for great steaks, etc.  There were 17 of us, 9 Corvettes and a Acura TL Type S (Roger, Karen and Thomas).

July 13 (Wednesday) Travel Day
We met in the parking lot of the Flying J.  From there, we traveled to Amarillo for lunch at The Texan restaurant.  We were greeted there by the Amarillo Corvette Club who had put together goodie bags for each of us.  What a great and thoughtful club.
Limon, Colorado would be our stopping point for the day.  About 600 miles and 11 hours of driving.
 
July 14 (Thursday)
We left Limon, CO for Deadwood, SD.  We arrived at the hotel, checked in, rested and then went to Spearfish to register and have BBQ.  Afterwards, we headed to Mount Rushmore for the night ceremony.
 
July 15 (Friday)
We traveled to the Crazy Horse Memorial and then thru the Needles Mountains with their tunnels and impressive views.  Then it was back to Deadwood to clean up and then head to Spearfish for the Classic Banquet.   
 
July 16 (Saturday)
We traveled to Devils Tower, WY.  For lunch, we stopped at a little cafe in Alladin, WY.  There we got to visit with several of the local ranchers.  Great people and great food.  A great combination.  We then traveled to Spearfish and the Spreafish canyon. The canyon is a beautiful drive.  Along the way in the canyon, we stopped at the Bridal Vail Waterfall.  What a sight.
 
July 17 (Sunday) Travel Day
We left Deadwood, SD for our day's destination of Limon, CO.  About 450 miles.
 
July 18 (Monday) Travel Day
We left Limon, CO for the trip home.  About 600 miles and 11 hours of driving.

Dinner: We went to Abuelo's.  Afterwards, we went to Hastings.  There were 15 of us, 3 Corvettes and 5 warwagons.  IT finally RAINED !!!  About .25 inches.
 
O'Reilly's and the Big Country Car Clubs, MDA car show.  At the O'Reilly's location on South 1st there were about 100 cars/trucks in attendance.  A very HOT day with a temp of 109 degrees.  Three of our club members won awards.  There were 11 of us, 5 Corvettes and Herbie.

Dinner: We went to Zookini's.
 
TMS: Some of the group went to the IRL races at TMS in Ft. Worth.  We had 4 of the 30 Corvette convertibles that volunteered from the Lone Star Corvette Club to take the drivers around the track before the races.  As always, we had a great time and was well worth the trip.  There were 7 of us and 7 Corvettes.

Breakfast: We went to Mac's Diner (inside Lawrence Bros grocery) in Clyde.  There were 4 of us and 4 Corvettes.
 
Dinner: We went to Copper Creek.  We helped Roger celebrate Karen's Birthday.  There were 14 of us, 7 Corvettes and a Viper.

Memorial Weekend - We thank all the service men and women, past and present, for their service !!
 
Breakfast:  We went to Alejandra's in Tuscola.  There were 9 of us and 8 Corvettes.
 
Dinner: We went to Trent and the Trent "Country Club"....or should we say Club in the Country?  It was a fun trip and there was great food.  On the weather side, the temps reached 109.  A new record over the previous high of 103 in 1927.  There were 15 of us, 9 Corvettes and a GT-40.

We met at Mac's Diner in Clyde for breakfast.  We left and traveled thru rain all the way to TMS. The rest, well like they say, "what happens in Ft. Worth stays in Ft. Worth".   There were 13 of us, 9 Corvettes and 1 truck.

Arlene got Ladies Choice and Herbie got Peoples Choice.

Boerne, Tx - Texas Corvette Assn Car Show
Several of our club members headed to Boerne for a great car show.  There were plenty of great cars.  There were three Zr1's and a Carbon Z06 to name a few of the Vettes.  Of course, there were several Mustangs, Cobras, muscle cars, etc.  We even had great weather this year as opposed to previous years of rain.  A big thanks to Ryan and Crystal for having us over for breakfast Sunday morning.  Personally, I would have made the trip just for the breakfast...it was that good.  There were 9 of us and 5 Corvettes.
 
Albany, Tx - 5th Annual WRM Classic Car Show
Roland and Pam took their Camaro to Albany and got a 2nd place trophy to show for their efforts.  Over 100 cars attended.  Congratulations!!!
 
Dinner:  We went to Abuelo's for the always great mexican food.  There were 7 of us, 3 Corvettes, a Firebird and a Jag.

April 7th (Thursday)
Weather: 70 degrees and sunny
We met at the Flying J, had breakfast, traveled to Pecos and stopped for lunch and fuel at the Flying J.
After lunch, we continued on to Balmorhea State Park and then on to Alpine and the Maverick Inn.  After our check-in, we went to THE STABLE, where we met Dave Durant.  Rebecca was nice enough to bring finger foods, snacks and drinks for us as we looked at the great cars.
 
April 8th (Friday)
Weather: 70 degrees and sunny
We started the day at Magoo's restaurant.  Afterwards, we headed to Marathon and the Gage hotel.  After touring the hotel and checking out all the shops, we headed to the Big Bend National Park.  Our intentions were to head to the Hot Springs in the park.  After some four wheeling and hiking we arrived at the springs. (There is more to this, so if you are interested, talk to one of those that went on the Bash).  Afterwards, we headed to the Chisos Mountain Lodge for lunch and then back to Alpine and the Maverick Inn.  After a short break we headed to the Texas Fusion for dinner.
 
April 9th (Saturday)
Weather: 70 degrees and sunny.
We headed to Marfa for breakfast at Mango's and to check out the Hotel Paisano .  Across from the hotel is the Palace Theater, where we stopped to see  David Kimble, the illustrator for GM.  David was nice enough to let us tour his place and show us the many things he is working on.  Afterwards, we headed to Presidio.  We then headed down the river road and the Terlingua Ghost Town.  Here we had lunch at the Starlight Theater.  Great food with live entertainment.  From Terlingua, we headed to Alpine and the Marverick Inn.  After a short break we headed to the Buffalo Rose restaurant for dinner.
 
April 10th (Sunday)
Weather: 70 degrees and sunny.
This was our day to travel home.  We started with a breakfast at McDonald's in Alpine.  We headed north to Ft. Stockton and Big Lake.  Then it was on to Sterling City where we stopped at Jeff and Shari's house for a group photo session.  Afterwards, we continued on to Robert Lee.  We stopped at the Twisters Restaurant where they serve great food and make great pies.  Afterwards, we headed home to Abilene where there was still enough light to clean our cars from our long journey.  What a great adventure and what a great group of people to enjoy it with !!!
 
We had 23 people, 16 Corvettes and a Challenger.
 

April 2nd, 2011
A couple of our members went to the 19th Annual Corvettes of Enid In-door Car Show.  There were over 110 cars in the show.  There were a large number of Corvettes in the parking lot that had driven in just to check out the show. It is a great show and only six hours to get there.
 
Dinner:  We went for a long drive across the Abilene Mall parking lot to Casa Herera.  There were 25 of us, 13 Corvettes and a GTO.

Breakfast: We went to Denny's inside the Flying J on I-20 in Tye.  There were 12 of us, 6 Corvettes, a Lincoln and a semi-truck.
 
Dinner: We traveled to Colorado City and Siria's Tex-Mex restaurant.  Lisa was there greeting us to great meal.  There were 17 of us and 11 Corvettes.  5 of those and 3 Corvettes came from the Concho Valley Corvette Club in San Angelo to join us at the Flying J and then the drive to Colorado City.  It was good to meet them and glad they came.  I hope we can join their club for some events in the future.

Breakfast:  We went to Alejandra's in Tuscola for a great breakfast.  They have expanded and now have plenty of room if someone wants to select it for a Saturday evening run.  There were 5 of us, 3 Corvettes, a Honda and a Firebird.
 
Dinner: We went to Buffalo Gap and the Deutschlander Freshwater Catfish Co. Restaurant. There were 18 of us, 10 Corvettes, a Cadillac and a GT-40.

Event: A couple of our members went to the Drivers Edge event in College Station at the Texas World Speedway.  It was two days of learning your car as well as the track.  Tracks sessions as well as classroom sessions keep you busy the whole day.  This event is highly recommended for those looking to enjoy their Corvette and learn its' limitations as well as their own.
 
Dinner: We went to the Trent "Country Club".  They call it a "Country" Club because it is in the "country".  The food was great. There were 15 of us, 10 Corvettes and a GT-40.

Breakfast: We went to the Denny's inside the Flying J, West of Abilene on I-20.  There were 6 of us and 5 Corvettes.

Dinner: We met at the rest area on I-20, mile marker 296, East of Abilene. At 6:30 we headed to the Barbwire Grill in Cisco.  Great food and a fun trip.  Lovey, the owner, treated us very good.  There were 17 of us and 11 Corvettes.

Breakfast: We went to Jean's Feed Barn in Cross Plains.  There were 7 of us and 7 Corvettes.
 
Dinner: We went to Peacock's in Anson.  Afterwards, we went to Fred and Arlene's home for coffee and conversation.  There were 24 of us and 14 Corvettes.

Breakfast: We thought we would try the new Alejandra's in Tuscola today.  It was a bright sunny morning and great for a drive to Tuscola.  It was fun finally getting out after two weeks of snowy and icy weather.  Great breakfast.  We will have to go there again.  There were 8 of us and 7 Corvettes.
 
Dinner:  We went to Betty Rose's BBQ on Judge Ely.  There were 19 of us, 10 Corvettes and a Viper.

February 5, 2011
Breakfast: After 4 full days of icy roads and sub-zero temps, some with cabin fever braved the roads and went to Cracker Barrel.  At least the sun is out and the ice is melting.  There were 3 of us, no Corvettes.
 
Dinner:  We were suppose to go to the Barbwire Grill in Cisco but we changed our minds because of the roads.  We will save that one for another day.  We went to Oscar's since it was a war wagon night.  There were 14 of us and no Corvettes.

Breakfast: Another sunny, 60 degree Saturday.  We went to Owl Drug in Coleman.  Great place to go and very inexpensive.  There were 6 of us and 6 Corvettes
 
Dinner: We went to Skeet's in Merkel.  Always a great place for a meal.  Afterwards, we went to Fred and Arlene's for brownies and ice cream.  There were 23 of us and 15 Corvettes.

January 22, 2011.
Breakfast: Another sunny, cold and windy Saturday.  We went to the Flying J.  There were 7 of us, 6 Corvettes and a Harley.
 
Dinner:  We went to downtown Abilene and the Cypress Station.  There were 18 of us and 12 Corvettes.

This was the weekend for the men's and women's trips.  The women had planned to go to Fredericksburg, but the weather did not cooperate.  The men, on the other hand, followed thru with their plans of going to Dallas and attending a Dallas Stars hockey game.  They stopped in Strawn at Mary's for a great chicken fried steak and then continued on and visited Corvette World at their new location.  There were lots of Corvettes for sale with most being c6's.  The hockey game was fun plus the Stars won 6-1.  There were 6 of us and 4 Corvettes.
 
Dinner:  We went to Cotton Patch.  There were 5 of us and 3 Corvettes.

January 8, 2011
Breakfast: Beautiful day to go to Clyde and Mac's Diner inside Lawrence Brothers Grocery Store.  There were 8 of us, 6 Corvettes and 1 IROC Z.
 
Dinner: The Beehive was the selection but it was the one in Albany.  Several went to Albany. Several tried the Beehive in Abilene only to be turned away.  There were 25 of us and 16 Corvettes.

XMAS Party !!! : We met at the bank and went to Arlene and Fred's house for the annual BCCC Xmas party.  Great food, fun and great companionship.  Hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas !!!!

Winters Xmas Parade:  Several of our members went to Winters for the Xmas Parade.  Problem was, we did not find out until we got there that it was being delayed until the 18th.  The Concho Valley Corvette Club had invited our club to join them.  We were able to have breakfast together.  There were 8 of us and 8 Corvettes.
Dinner:  We went to Copper Creek.  Afterwards, we went to Hastings for coffee and conversation.  There were 15 of us and 11 Corvettes.

4th Annual Elmdale Classic Vehicle Show: Several of our members attended.  There were 8 of us, 7 Corvettes, 1 Camaro (best of show runner-up) and a couple motorcycles.
 
Dinner:  We went to Abuelo's.  We had a great crowd.  Afterwards, we went to Hastings for coffee and converstation.  There were 27 of us, 20 Corvettes and a great looking Camaro!!

Longhorn Corvette Club Open Car Show - On the beautiful Georgetown square!!
  What a fun trip!!  There were about 125 cars of all makes and models on the square.  It reminded me of the Granbury square with all the great shops and eating places.  The rain kept some away but all in all a great show.  Congratulations to Teri for winning the C5 Convertible class.  There were 10 of us and 7 Corvettes.

Dinner:  We went to Buffalo Gap and the Deutschlander Freshwater Catfish Co. Restaurant.  After some great catfish, we went on the Buffalo Gap Ghost tour.  Then to Ryan's and Crystal's for coffee and conversation....plus a kind of a going away party for them since they will be moving to San Antonio.  We will miss them !!!!  There were 24 of us and 17 Corvettes.

  Several of our club members went to Granbury for the Brazos River Corvette Show.  There were 6 of us and 5 Corvettes.  Congratulations to Arlene (C6 vert class award), Fred (C6 Z06 class award), Roger/Thomas(C5 coupe class award), Dale (C5 Z06 class award) and Barry(won the C5 Z06 class).  We also helped the Lone Star Corvette club win the club participation award.  Great show and great weather !!!

Breakfast: We met at the rest stop on I20 East of Abilene at mile marker 296.  We went the back way to Baird on Hwy 18.  Great day for a drive.  We had breakfast at the Whistle Stop in downtown Baird.  Great restaurant and crowded with bikers and then Corvetters.  There were 6 of us and 6 Corvettes.
Dinner:  We went to China Star.  Afterwards, we went to the Brew Net.  There were 15 of us and 7 Corvettes.  Also, Teri picked up a 2001 triple black convertible.  Sweet!!!

Lone Star Corvette Club Stadium Tours:  Our group of 9 Corvettes and 16 members joined the Lone Star group of about 100 to tour both the Rangers Ballpark and the new Cowboy Stadium.  It was a fun event.  It was good to see some of our Lone Star friends.
 
Dinner:  We went to the Pizza House in Clyde.  There were 15 of us and 9 Corvettes.

June 12th, 2010
Dinner:  What an event!!!  We went to Ft. Worth and the Botanical Gardens.  Of course we had to eat and we went to Angelos in Ft. Worth.  Great food and wine Margaritas.  At the Gardens, the Ft. Worth Symphony were accompanied by vocals of songs by the Eagles.  We brought our lawn chairs and sat out on the grassy area shaded by tall trees and cooled by a nice breeze.  On the final song, they shot off fireworks.  It was fun....just hope we get to do it again.

Artwalk / Carwalk
Several of us attended the Artwalk/Carwalk in downtown Abilene.  We had some new members bring their cars out.  All in all, it was a fun event.

Breakfast:  We met at 7am at the Flying J.  We headed to Sweetwater and the WASP homecoming parade and activities.  Our own Crystal was helping coordinate the activities.  Steve K and his Bentley won first place in the peoples choice car show.  There were 16 of us and 9 Corvettes plus a Bentley.
Dinner:  We went to Merkel and Skeets restaurant.  We held the drawing for the Abilene Police baseball card that we are sponsoring for Chris.  $355 dollars was raised.  The idea was to have one of the club's Corvettes be pictured on the card.   Ol' "BLUE EYES" won the drawing.  Congratulations Crystal.  Afterwards, we went to The Brew Net.  There were 26 of us and 14 Corvettes.  Also, Richard picked up his 07 Z06 at Corvettes of Dallas.  A pretty yellow one !!!

May 14th-16th, 2010 Lone Star Corvette Club Classic XXI at Texas Motor Speedway
We had a good size group go this year...in fact, we got a 2nd place award for club participation.  As always, it was good to go and see old friends and meet new ones.  There were lots of great cars at the car show on Saturday under the stands at TMS.  I was told 500 cars were registered for the Classic and that 250 cars were registered for the car show Saturday.  Sunday was track day and the weather cooperated so everyone got to drive the oval and infield road course.

May 8th, 2010
Breakfast:  Flying J was selected since the club would be leaving early afternoon and traveling to Stephenville for supper.  There were 6 of us and 3 Corvettes.
Dinner: We met at the bank at 3:30pm for a 4pm departure.  We traveled to Stephenville and the Oakdale Steak House.  It was great as a number of our out-of-town members were able to make the trip...the food was not bad either.  There were 17 of us, 11 Corvettes plus a Prowler.

May 1st, 2010
Dinner: We went to Amanda's.  There were 8 of us and 5 Corvettes.
Brazos River Motorsport Ranch Day:  We met at the rest area East of Abilene at 8am.  We went to Cisco to enjoy breakfast at Linda's Corner Cafe.  Always a great stop.  We then traveled to Cresson (just East of Granbury) and the Motorsport Ranch.  After a couple of class room sessions followed by a couple of lead and follows mixed in on the 1.7 mile track, we were ready to run the track on our own.  We broke into two different groups: fast and faster.  After a couple of open sessions, it was time to eat and make the trip back home.  There were 7 of us and 6 Corvettes.  If any of the group want pictures, here is the website or call 817-964-2189.

April 21 (Wednesday)
Dudley and I drive the road to Sanderson from Ft. Stockton.  At the Sanderson Court House, we registered for the BBORR.  We received our goody bags, pins, t-shirts, car number and windshield decal.  We attended the 2 hour rookie driving school and then had lunch.  After lunch, we took my car to be inspected or go thru tech as they call it.  We passed with no problem.  We then went to the highway between Sanderson and Marathon (Hwy 9) for our qualifying drive.  It is an 8 mile stretch of highway that has been closed down for that purpose.  An instructor rides with you as you drive the highway at speeds up to your tech speed.  Ours happens to be 124mph.
You drive 8 miles out, wait for the 10-12 cars behind you to make their run and then you drive back.  Your instructor give us the all ok and we head back to Ft. Stockton for the night.  As we drive the 58 miles back we are practicing our timing at 75mph.

Several of our members went to Boerne for the TCA Open Car Show.  We left Friday morning with a stop in Ballinger for breakfast at Alejandra's.  Great breakfast.  This would be a great place for one of our Saturday night dinners.  We continued on to Boerne and arrived around noon at the hotel.  We cleaned and got our cars ready for the next days car show.  On Saturday, the main street in Boerne had been blocked off and Corvettes were found everywhere.  Congratulations to several of our members who received awards.  Randy and Teri, Jerry and Teggy, and "Rolando and Pamasetta".  There were 17 of us, 10 Corvettes and a Camaro.

Dinner: Our first dinner road trip of the year......we went to Robert Lee where we had dinner and homemade pie at Twisters.  Ask anyone that went how Twisters got its' name.  There were 15 of us, 10 Corvettes and a Viper.

Corvettes of Enid Expo 18:  Great show.  There were about 125 cars inside the Expo Center in Enid.  They had two C6 convertibles converted to ZR1's.  770 HP.  There were also two C6 convertibles converted to Z06's.

We met at the Flying J, had breakfast, traveled to Pecos and had lunch at the Flying J.
I know...sounds like we were on a "Flying J" tour.  After lunch, we continued on to Balmorhea State Park and then on to Ft. Davis and the Indian Lodge.  After our check-in, some went on the scenic loop, some to tour Ft. Davis and some to relax at the lodge.  For our evening meal, we went to the Limpia Hotel.  As always, we let everyone know we were there !!

Weather: 50 degrees and sunny
We started the day at the Black Bear Restaurant at the Indian Lodge.  After breakfast, we headed to Marfa to check out the Hotel Paisano and where some of us met David Kimble, the illustrator for GM.  He lives in the Palace Theater.  After filling up with gas, we headed to Presidio.  After a brief stop at a local grocery store, we headed down the river road and the Terlingua Ghost Town.  Here we had lunch at the Starlight Theater.  Great food with live entertainment.  From Terlingua, we headed to Alpine and the Marverick Inn.  We found our rooms and unpacked our cars.  After a short break we headed to the Longhorn Steakhouse.  After a great meal, we headed back to Ft. Davis and the McDonald Observatory.  Our time was limited at the observatory because of a cold front that produced cloud cover and obstructed our view of the stars and planets.  Then we headed back to Alpine for the night.

Weather: 30 degrees and sleet.
We started the day at Magoo's Place restaurant.  Great mexican items for breakfast as well as your regular breakfast.  After breakfast, we headed to the Big Bend National Park via Study Butte.  We spent most of the day in the park with stops at the Santa Elena Canyon and the Chisos Mountain Lodge where we had a great lunch as well as a great view of the mountains.  After lunch, we headed back to Alpine thru Marathon.  We took a break in Marathon and checked out the Gage Hotel.  We then headed back to the Maverick Inn in Alpine for some relaxation and a pizza dinner.

Weather: 40 degrees and sunny.
This was our day to travel home.  We started with a breakfast at McDonald's in Alpine.  We headed north to Ft. Stockton and Big Lake.  Then it was on to Sterling City and Robert Lee.  In Robert Lee we refueled our cars and ourselves. We found Twisters Restaurant where they serve great food and make great pies.  Afterwards, we headed home to Abilene where there was still enough light to clean our cars from our long journey. 
What a great adventure and what a great group of people to enjoy it with !!!

Breakfast: We went to Lawrence Bros/Mack's Cafe in Clyde.  Mark, one of our club members, manages the store.  There were 9 of us and 5 Corvettes.
Dinner: We went to the Bonsai Steakhouse Restaurant.  As always, the food was great and the company even better.  Afterwards, we went to Ted and Jean's for coffee and conversation.  There were 15 of us and 10 Corvettes.

Breakfast: We went to Cracker Barrel.  There were 8 of us and 7 Corvettes.
Dinner: We went to JoJo's in Potosi.  The food was great.  We may have to go back sometime.  Afterwards, several of us went to Ted and Jean's for coffee and cookies.  There were 18 of us and 12 Corvettes.

Breakfast: Several went to Cracker Barrel.
Several of our members went to PrimeTime on Loop 322 for the Christain Homes Wheels for Life car show.  A number of our members got awards with Fred's Harley getting Best of Show.
Dinner: We went to ZooKini's for great food.  Afterwards, we went to The Brew Net.  There were 28 of us and 14 Corvettes.

Breakfast: We went to the Flying J on I-20 in Tye.  There were 6 of us and 6 Corvettes
A large group of our members took their cars to Dyess for a picture with the B1 bomber.  A big THANK-YOU!!! to Ryan and Crystal for setting this up.  We had 35 cars altogether.
Dinner: This was homecoming weekend for all the colleges.  Plus, ZOPS had all kinds of activities around town.  With that in mind, we went to Tuscola to have dinner at BIG G's Steakhouse.  Great steaks and a great drive to stretch the legs of our Corvettes.  There were 30 of us and 18 Corvettes.

Several of our members went to the 4th Annual Brazos River Corvette Club's car show on the town square.  There were over 100 cars.  Some came as far away as Enid, OK.  One of our cars received an award.  There were 12 of us and 9 Corvettes.
Dinner: With so many out of town there was no club dinner tonight.

Dinner:  This was KEAN cruise night plus we had many of our members out-of-town.  Several of our members met at Chelsea's at the Mall of Abilene.  From there, we went to the car show just North of the Mall.

Eureka Springs 19th Annual Corvette Show
Several of our members left Thursday, Oct 1, for Eureka Springs, Arkansas.
It rained on us going and coming but the weather there was wonderful.
We had a great time and one of our members got an award.
There were 13 of us and 9 Corvettes.

Breakfast:  We went to the Flying J on I-20 in Tye.  There were 10 of us and 10 Corvettes.
Dinner:  We went to Rosa's Tortilla Factory on Judge Ely BLVD here in Abilene.  Afterwards, we went to THE BREW NET for coffee and conversation.  There were 14 of us and 11 Corvettes.

Serveral of our group went to Wichita Falls, TX for the Wichita County Corvette Association's Corvette Roundup.  There were over 100 Corvettes with 55 coming from the Lone Star Corvette Club in the Dallas area.  Several of our members received awards for their cars.  There were 10 of us and 7 Corvettes.
Dinner: We went the Szechuan Chinese Restaurant on South 1st.  Afterwards, we went to Pat and Joann's house for coffee and conversation.  There were 11 of us and 8 Corvettes.

Sept 12, 2009 (Rainy day)
Dinner: We went to the Deutschlander Freshwater Catfish Co. Restaurant in Buffalo Gap.  It was a war wagon night because of all the rain.  There were 21 of us and no Corvettes.

With most of the members out of town for the holiday weekend or at the NCM, we had a very small group.  We decided to go to Brick Oven Pizza. There were 4 of us and 2 Corvettes.

Aug 31st, 2009 (Monday)
Several of our members met at Hanner Chevrolet this morning at 7am for a fabulous breakfast and an 8am sendoff by the staff at Hanner Chevrolet for our departure on the 2009 NCM Corvette Caravan.  We will head to Texas Motor Speedway where we will meet up with the Central Texas group.  From there we will head to OKC to meet up with the Southern California, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, North Texas and Oklahoma groups.  From our club, there were 16 of us and 12 Corvettes.  In OKC, there will be about 800 Corvettes.
(Tuesday) Today we travel from OKC to Tunica, Mississippi.  We will be staying the night at Harrah's Casino.  We will dine at Paula Dean's restaraunt and gamble.
(Wednesday) Today we will travel to Goodlettsville, TN to check in at the hotel and then travel on to Bowling Green, KY where we will be volunteering at the National Corvette Museum.
(Thursday) Today we go to the Corvette Assembly Plant for a tour.  Afterwards, we will head to the Makers Mark distillery.
(Friday) Today we travel to several wineries and a cheese farm.  We will also travel the back roads of Tennesse and Kentucky.
(Saturday) Today we spend the day at the Corvette Museum where we will go thru the museum portion and watch the unveiling of the Corvette prototype that was used in the movie Transformers II.
(Sunday) Today we will travel to Hot Springs, AR and spend the night. 
(Monday) Today we will travel the rest of the way home....WOW, what a week !!

Breakfast: We went to the Cracker Barrel on I-20 and Hwy 350.  There were 10 of us and 10 Corvettes.
Several of the members took their cars to the Power Shack on Buffalo Gap Road.  The Power Shack was celebrating their 23rd anniversary with a car and cycle show.
Dinner: We went to the Home Place in Tuscola for a great meal and then went to Pam's place in Buffalo Gap for coffee and conversation.  There were 30 of us and 19 Corvettes.

Breakfast: We went to Lawrence Brothers in Clyde.  As usual, Mark took care of us and served us a great breakfast.  Lots of coffee and conversation.  There were 9 of us and 7 Corvettes.  Bobby and Cindy Lewis joined us for the first time with their Black C6 Coupe (another one from Corvettes of Dallas).

"Beat the heat in Ruidoso" trip:
Several of our members went to Ruidoso, NM on Thursday and stayed until Sunday, Aug 2nd.  When we left Sunday, it was 48 degrees.  It was a great trip.  We went to the horse races, casinos and great restaurants.  We did some back road traveling thru the mountains with some spirited driving.  We stayed in a condo....can you say "Animal House" !!!! All in all it was a great event planned by Roland and Pam.  There were 10 of us and 6 Corvettes.
Dinner:  We went to the Szechuan Chinese Restaurant on South 1st.  Great food. There were 8 of us since most were out of town.

Breakfast: We went to Farenze's in Tuscola.  There were 10 of us and 8 Corvettes.
Dinner: We went to Skeet's in Merkel.  Afterwards, we went the long way to Ted and Jean's house for coffee and conversation.  There were 20 of us and 10 Corvettes.

Dinner:  We were able to talk Farenze's in Tuscola into opening their cafe for us. We also had Kay from the Stitchn-Post come meet us and take orders for our new club shirts.  There were 31 of us and 21 Corvettes.

Mystery Tour:  Several of our members went on a Mystery Tour this weekend led by Randy and Teri.  We ended up in San Antonio on the River Walk.  It was fun and I hope we do another mystery tour.
 
Dinner:  We went to the Beehive in downtown Abilene.  There was a mix-up on our reservation among other things.  We probably will not go back.  Afterwards, we went to Hastings for coffee and conversation.  There were 11 of us.
 
Other news:  Ralph and Cindy traded in their 2002 Red Coupe for a 2006 Le Mans Blue Coupe.

Several of our members went to the Artwalk/Carwalk in downtown Abilene.

Breakfast:  We went to the L&L Family Restaurant in Breckenridge.  Beautiful day for a drive plus good food and converstation.  We had a good group of 9 and 9 Corvettes.
Dinner: Well, if you missed the dinner at Steve and Sue's, you missed a great time and a great meal.  Steve and Sue put on a great spread and since we were outside, the weather even cooperated.  Steve showed off his shop and 35 Bentley and Sue showed off her beautiful home.  There were 21 of us and 16 Corvettes.
 
Other news: Mark Hanner of Hanner Chevrolet agreed to be our club sponsor.

Hanner Chevrolet Camaro Debut:  What a fun event!!  We had a good crowd.  Hanner fed us breakfast....and even lunch.  We even got to test drive several of their new cars.  There were 27 of us and 18 Corvettes plus a Camaro.
 
Dinner: Because of rain, this was a war-wagon night.  We went to the Pizza House in Clyde for some great pizza.  We then went to The Brew Net on Hwy 351 for coffee and conversation.
There were 24 of us and 6 Corvettes.
 
Other news: Greg purchased a new black 2009 ZR1...wow!!!

May 16th, 2009
Several of our members went to Ft. Worth for the 20th Classic hosted by the Lone Star Corvette Club.  As usual, it was a great event with over 500 Corvettes registered.  Even though it rained all day Saturday, the cars were under the stands at TMS and we were able to enjoy looking at 300-400 Corvettes.  Sunday was track day and the weather turned cool and clear for some runs on the track that reached 130-140mph.  Of our group, Brenda, Ryan, Wiggy and Randy got awards for their cars.
Dinner:  No meeting, bad weather.
Other news: Lyn traded in her C5 convertible for a 2005 C6 roadster.  Black on Red, 6-speed manual.  Beautiful car !!

Several of our members went to Snyder, Tx for the Snyder Wheels Car Show and Cruise.
It was a great show even though the weather was not the best.  We got rained on going but
the rain quit when we got there.  There was a great turn-out and loads of great looking vehicles.
Of our group, Pam(3), Brenda, Arlene and Wiggy got awards.
 
Dinner:  We went to Square's.  Afterwards, we went to Hastings for coffee and conversation.

Several of our members went to Boerne, Tx (San Antonio, Tx)  and the Texas Corvette Association's 17th Annual Open Car show.  It is a great show and many of those that attended said they would go again.  There were over 260 cars and that was pretty good considering they did not know if they were going to have the show because of the rain.  Of the 7 Corvettes we entered in the show, Randy and Brenda received awards.  There were 15 of us and 11 Corvettes.
One of our members has a new to them C6 convertible.  Roland and Pam traded in the 50th Anniversary convertible for an 07 Red convertible.  Pretty car!!  They also sold their C1.
Dinner:  We went to Los Primos on Treadaway.  Afterwards, we went to Hastings for coffee and conversation.
 
Other news: Pam and Roland traded their 03 50th Anniversary roadster for an 06 Red roadster.
They also sold their C2 and got a 67 Camaro.

April 11th, 2009
Several of our members went to the Kiowa Casino, just North of Wichita Falls, for some gambling and to stretch the legs of our Corvettes.  We stopped in Albany at the Eagles Nest Cafe for breakfast and then continued on.  We had a great time.  There were 10 of us and 6 Corvettes.
Dinner: We went to Amanda's Mexican Restaraunt.  Afterwards, the group went to Hastings for coffee and conversation.  With several out of town for Easter, we still ended up with a nice size group.  There were 16 of us and just a handful of Corvettes since storms were in the area.

Breakfast: We went to the Texas Cafe on North 10th and Mockingbird.  Great place to have breakfast....any day.  There were 6 of us and 5 Corvettes.
Several of our members went to the 1st Annual Revorama at the Trinity Baptist benefiting the West Central Texas Food Bank.  Of those that attended, Fred, Arlene, Teri and Dale received awards.  There were over 100 cars and bikes.
Dinner: We went to the Pizza House in Clyde.  Afterwards, we went to The Brew Net.  There were 14 of us and 11 Corvettes.

March 21st, 2009
Breakfast: We went to 66 Sirloin in Anson.  We went the back way via FM 707.  Fun drive!!

Dinner: We went to Peacock's in Anson.  Afterwards, we went to The Brew Net on Hwy 351.
At the bank, a Factory Five GTM Kit Car/Corvette showed up.  Pretty neat car.  It is mostly made up of Corvette parts (ie LS1 engine and computer, suspension, steering column, etc). Here is a website that discusses it.  We had a good crowd....there were 22 of us and 12 Corvettes.

Breakfast: We went to Farenze's in Tuscola.  A great place for breakfast.  They also have great desserts if you are ever in the area.  We went via Hwy 83/84 and came home via FM 613.  There were 11 of us and 10 Corvettes.
Dinner: We went to Skeets in Merkel.  They have great fried pickles and onion rings.  The other food is good as well.  Afterwards, we went to Java City but it was closing early because of Spring Break.  So, we tried The Brew Net on Hwy 351.  It may be our new coffee shop on Saturday nights.  There were 28 of us and 15 Corvettes.

A couple of our members went to the Dallas Auto Show.  GM brought a lot of vehicles.  There were four Corvettes.  Two Z06's, one ZR1 and one convertible.  There were four Camaros.  One of the Camaros was a concept car and had the LS7.  If you were looking to buy, this would be a good place to go and see most of the cars that are available in one location.

Dinner: We went to the famous "Pizza House" in Clyde.  The place was packed because of Valentines.  The pizza is great too.  Afterwards, we went to Ted and Jean's house for coffee and dessert.  We watched an old episode of Route 66.  We had 16 members and 10 Corvettes.

Breakfast: We went to Farenze's in Tuscola for a great breakfast.  We had 11 members and 10 Corvettes.  Afterwards, we went to Teri and Randy's to inspect the damage to his tranny and to look at Fred's new purchase.  A '63 supercharged Studebaker with overdrive.
Dinner: We went to Squares BBQ.  Afterwards, we went to Hastings for coffee and conversation.  We had a big crowd....there were 23 of us and 15 Corvettes.

Breakfast:  We went to Cisco and Lynda's Corner Cafe.  Always a great breakfast at a great price.  We met at the rest stop East of Abilene.  There were 12 of us, 11 Corvettes and 1-'57 T-Bird.  Yes, Rocky was there and he went with us.  We stopped at Hanner Chevrolet on the way back.  Great folks at Hanner....stop in sometime, buy a car or get some service work done !!!
 
Dinner:  We went to Clyde and the Pizza House.  As always, great pizza.  Afterwards, we went to the Sonic in Clyde for coffee and conversation.  There were 14 of us and 12 Corvettes plus a VW(Rocky's).

We went to Ted and Jean's house for our annual Christmas party.  Ryan and Crystal organized the event.  We had a lot of fun.  There was more good food and spirits than we could put away.  A BIG THANK YOU !!! goes to Ted and Jean AND Ryan and Crystal.  I have a feeling that some of the gifts will show up again next year.  There were about 32 of us and a bunch of Corvettes.

About 18 of our members went to hear the Eagles in concert in Dallas.  The Eagles were great as usual.  It was a packed house at the American Airlines Center.  I think everyone had a good time.
Some went to Corvettes of Dallas to check their inventory out.  Arlene had fun...she came back with a new exhaust !!
 
Dinner: After pulling a selection from a hat....we went to Red Robin.  Afterwards, we went to Hastings for coffee and conversation.  We also got to see the Alabama-Miss football game.  Most of the group was at the Eagle's concert.  There were 11 of us and 5 Corvettes.

Dinner: We went to Grinders on South 1st.  The meal was great...I think Robert had the MEGA-BURGER!!
Afterwards, we went to Ted and Jean's for an apple sampling.  My favorites were the Fuji and the Honey Crisp apples. We also watched the rain delayed World Series baseball game between the Rays and the Phillies.  Greg Miesel announced he would be moving to Arizona the first part of November.  Good luck Greg!!

Several of our members attended the "Wheels for Life" benefiting Christain Homes of Abilene.  A-Town/Hi-Tech was the main sponsor.  18 Corvettes were on display along with many other cars from around the area.  A beautiful day and a wonderful cause.
 
Dinner: We went to Oscar's Mexican Restaurant.  Afterwards, we went to Ted and Jean's for an Octoberfest beer tasting.

Several of our members went to Granbury for the 3rd Annual Brazos River Corvette Club Car show on the town square.  It was a great day for a car show.  We met for breakfast at Cracker Barrel and then caravanned from there.  Congratulations go to Arlene, Wiggy and Dale for their awards.  Pictures are available on the EVENTS page.

This was a busy weekend for our club!!!
 
Several of our members left Thursday for Eureka Springs, Arkansas.  We ended up with 7 cars and had a great time.  The scenery is beautiful and the roads are fun to drive...especially in a Corvette.
We even found a great Italian food restaurant, Emilio's.  We ate there twice, it was so good.
There were 615 registered cars with several hundred more that were not registered.  If you have not made this trip, you need to plan on going next year.  It is always the first weekend in October.  The dates are Oct. 1-4, 2009.  We have already reserved rooms for next year...so if your are interested, let Arlene know.   Pictures are available on the EVENTS page.
 
Several of our members went to Eastland on Saturday for RipFest.  We ended up with 9 cars and had a great time.  Congratulations go to Randy for getting Runner-up Best of Show.  Pictures are available on the EVENTS page.
Dinner: We went to Buffet City and then to Willow Creek Golf Course for entertainment.

Sept 27th, 2008
Breakfast: We had 5 cars go to breakfast at Linda's Corner Cafe in Cisco.  Great breakfast !!!  Good place to stop if you are ever headed that direction.
Dinner: We went to "The Homeplace" near Tuscola.  Afterwards, we went to Tuscany's for coffee and conversation.  We had 24 people and 18 Corvettes.

Sept 20th, 2008
Since this was KEAN cruise night, many of our members drove in the cruise.  Several met at Chili's on HWY 351 and then joined up with the group at the Sears parking lot after the cruise.
 
Several of our members went to Wichita Falls for the Wichita Country Corvette Club car show.  It was at the Holiday Inn by the Falls.  There were about 85-90 cars.  A good majority of the cars were from the LoneStar Corvette Club in Dallas.  We had 3 cars at the show and all three placed...2 first place and 1 second place.  Congratulations to Arlene, Wiggy and Dale for their awards.  Pictures are available on the EVENTS page.

Breakfast: Several met for breakfast at the Flying J truckstop.
Dinner: We went to the Deutschlander Freshwater Catfish Co. Restaurant in Buffalo Gap and then to Hastings for coffee and conversation.

Sept 6th, 2008
Breakfast: It has been awhile since we have had a breakfast run. We had a good group for breakfast at the Flying J truckstop. About 9 people and 7 Corvettes.
Dinner: We went to Little Italy on South 14th and the Winters Freeway.  Afterwards, we went to Tuscany's for coffee and conversation.  We had about 22 people and 11 Corvettes.

Aug 30th, 2008 (Labor Day Weekend)
We went to Lytle Land and Cattle.  Afterwards, we went to Tuscany's for coffee and conversation.  We had about 20 people and a few corvettes because of the rainy weather.

We went to Spano's on ES 11th (where Cahoot's was located).  Afterwards, we went to Tuscany's for coffee and converstation.  We had about 20 people and 12 Corvettes.
 
Several of the club membes went to the car/bike show at Nelson Park.  Joe won 1st place in the classic division.

Aug 16th, 2008
We went to Amanda's and then to the new Hastings location on South 14th where we enjoyed coffee and conversation at the coffee shop inside.  We had about 20 people....and no Corvettes since it was raining.  The South side of town got 4-6 inches....the airport, 2 inches.

We went to the Icehouse in Albany.  Great food and a good time going to Albany.  Afterwards, we went to Java City for coffee and conversation.  We had about 16 people and 11 Corvettes. 

Aug 2nd, 2008
We went to Brick Oven Pizza.  There was one surprise.  Greg and Pam have a new addition.
A new 08 yellow convertible.  Black interior and black top.
 
About 11 of the club members went to the 35th Annual "Vettes on the Rockies" in Breckenridge, Colorado. It was a great event and even had the 2009 Corvette ZR1 on display.
Temperatures were in the low 80's during the day and 40's at night.
Wish we could have packaged some of that and brought it back.
With over 500 Corvettes registered, there were plenty of Corvettes to look at.

July 26th, 2008
We went to the Bonzai Japanese Steakhouse.  Great food and fun preparation.
We then went to Tuscany's for coffee. We had about 20 people and 12 Corvettes.
 
Several of the club members went to the Kiowa Casino, just North of Wichita Falls.
We left at 7:00am from the WalMart parking lot on Hwy 350 (Albany Hwy).  We stopped for breakfast at the Presley Cafe in Albany and then continued on to the casino. 

July 19th, 2008
We went to Harlows and then to Tuscany's for coffee and conversation.
 
Several of the club members went to the Motorsports Ranch in Granbury.  It was just an introduction to the course and to road racing in general.  I think the worst that happened to our cars was they now have a little less tire tread and the brake pads are worn down a little.  The nice thing was we learned more about our driving capabilities and how our car performs.  It is highly recommended to attend the next one in April of 2009.  (Pictures)

We went to Amanda's and then to Java City.  We had about 18 people and 11 Corvettes.

We went to Randy, Teri and Lyn's house for a great meal and good conversation.
With several out of town, we had about 12 people and 7 corvettes.  One of the Corvettes, a C6, was
just recently acquired by Wiggie and Lois.  Congratulations !!

We went to SKEET'S on I-20 in Merkel.  Then it was off to Tuscany's for coffee and conversation.

We went to "THE HOMEPLACE" in Tuscola for a great buffet dinner.  Afterwards, we went to Tuscany's on South 1st for coffee and more conversation.
About 18 people attended with 14 Corvettes and 1 Mini Cooper (Crystal's).

We went to Square's BBQ and then to the Sonic on Judge Ely Blvd for desert and conversation.

We went to Philly's 5 on Southwest Drive across from WalMart.  Afterwards, we went to Mary's for ice cream and great conversation.  About 15 people attended.

We went to Amanda's.  We were suppose to go to the Town and Country Drive-in but the weather turned ugly.  So, we went to Ken and Sharla's house for the remainder of the evening.

We went to Brick Oven Pizza on South 14th.
 
Several of the club members went to TMS for the LoneStar Corvette Club Classic 19.
They had the largest number of Corvettes at this year's event than they have ever had.
Of the 13 Corvettes that went, four received car show honors.
Wiggy got first in the non-member show and shine.
Crystal was the 21st Century Motorsports selected car.
Dale got first in the member show and shine, Hardtop / Z06.
Brenda got an award in the member judged class.

May 10th, 2008
We went to the Deutchlander Restaurant in Buffalo Gap and then to Mezamiz for coffee and conversation. About 20 people attended.
 
Several of the club members went to Colorado City for the CC Riders Car Show Saturday.
It was a fun show with many great cars.
Of the six cars that went, four placed in the competition.
Wiggy and Fred placed in the C1, C2 and C3 category.
Dale and Dudley placed in the C4, C5 and C6 category.
